Reflexive pronouns (mi, ti, si, ci, vi, si) are used with reflexive verbs to show that the subject performs an action on themselves. They appear before the conjugated verb. Many common Italian daily routine verbs are reflexive: svegliarsi, alzarsi, lavarsi, vestirsi.

Pronome precede il verbo coniugato
Passato prossimo: usa essere → mi sono svegliato/a
Il participio concorda con il soggetto: mi sono vestita (f), ci siamo divertiti (m.pl)
Common Mistakes
Forgetting the reflexive pronoun: saying 'sveglio' instead of 'mi sveglio'.
Using avere instead of essere in passato prossimo with reflexive verbs.
