Tipo 1 (reale): Se + PRESENTE → PRESENTE / FUTURO
Tipo 2 (possibile): Se + CONGIUNTIVO IMPERFETTO → CONDIZIONALE PRESENTE
Tipo 3 (impossibile): Se + CONGIUNTIVO TRAPASSATO → CONDIZIONALE PASSATO
⚠ MAI condizionale dopo 'se': se avrei = SBAGLIATO → se avessi = CORRETTO
Common Mistakes
Using the condizionale after se — this is the most common error: se avrei (wrong) → se avessi (correct).
Mixing types: using congiuntivo trapassato with condizionale presente (common learner error).
Forgetting that Type 3 requires two compound tenses: se fossi venuta + saremmo stati.
